Hurgharda - 27/12 - Aqua Park

Another day of relaxation.  This is what we came here for!

We had planned to go to the Aqua Park.  We'd spoken to someone the night before to confirm that this was included in  our  deal and this person had confirmed that it was.  This person turned out to be a guest and had no business telling us this.  We took our hotel towels and walked in without anyone stopping us and spent the morning enjoying the various water slides and watching the (very) amateur shows.  put on by the 'animation' staff. There were a couple of good slides and a rather pathetic wave machine.  All of the announcements were made in Russian.  By about 2pm, we had had our fill of waterslides and we needed to feed the beasts, so we went back to the beach club for some lunch. Fiona and I settled in for an afternoon sleep while Luren returned for the 'belly dancing lessons' with Guy in Tow.  They disappeared only to return after half an hour very put out that they had not been allowed access without the 'full service' arm bands.  It seems that many of the apparent benefits of this resort disappear if you don't spend more money when you get there - very much against what I understand by the RCI ethic.  By now it was 4pm and the two children and I went for a game of volley ball.  We joined a group of Russians (and later by the dutch boys) for an enjoyable game which helped to allay the disappointment of hot getting back into the Aqua Park.

That evening we tried the local whisky - not very good and brought back memories of Bostick Glue for Fiona.  Then it was out to supper at the first place we'd gone to , for a western meal of burgers and pizzas.  Fiona and I planned to visit the disco that evening.

As it turned out the disco only opened at 10pm, so we passed the time playing rummy and having some port (also local but much more acceptable).  10pm came and the children went off to play pool.  We went up to th disco at around 10:15 but it had not got going yet, so we went up to the bar where the pool tables were.  They did not have our normal Saccara Gold in stock, so I settled for a draft.  We set up the very poor quality pool table (old balles - cracked cues, broken triangle - you get the drift) only to be told that we had to pay 20LE if we wanted to use it and this would be added to our bill.  We slammed down the pool cue and left the drink without any payment.  Angry yet again about the way that  guests are not given the opportunity to find out what is and is not on offer at the hotel (thus leading to this type of embarrassing scene).

We consolde ourselves with another port and the children (who had been playing with people who did  have the required arm bands) returned at around 12pm.
